The Penang Channel Challenge by Breast Cancer Survivors: 29 March 2009

Paddle for Courage, Strength and Change

Pink Challengers is a dragon boat team from Breast Cancer Welfare
Association (BCWA) which consists of paddlers who are breast cancer
survivors. The team was formed in March 2005 and since then has taken
part in the annual Penang International Dragon Boat Festival, Sabah
Dragon Boat Race in Kota Kinabalu and Sava Sprints in Singapore and a
few local races in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur.

Our team is planning to cross the channel from the mainland in
Butterworth to the island of Penang on 29 March 2009. The Penang
Channel Challenge will create history as the Pink Challengers will be
the first dragon boat team of breast cancer survivors to accomplish
this endeavour.

The objective of the entire event is to demonstrate to the public
at large that early detection and timely treatment of breast cancer can
save lives and suffering. We are doing this challenge to Paddle for
Courage, Strength and Change. We also aim to create a change in the
attitude of the public that breast cancer is not a death sentence, but
one can still live an active life after breast cancer. Hence the Penang
Channel Challenge aims at showing that after early detection and
medical treatment, breast cancer survivors can live extremely normal
and active lives.

In view of the above, we would like to invite all bikers to witness this historic event.
