I would try to post a series of short sms journals sent by Chin on his adventure ride in China

20 May 2009
Ride and Stay in Xinchang
Camera refused work properly .. plus packed wrong zoom lens ... (banging ^%*^*&) .. wasted buying super zoom for the trip and ended left at home

enjoyed the highways and country roads with lots of mountainous bends
But very dusty and sandy ..

21 May 2009
Been riding about 580km over country roads from Luntai to Ming Fei
480km of road through sand desert with light wind. 'Ate' a lot of dust
Had to stop to put tube into a dented rim of a Valadero

22 May 2009
Today, 250km with 100km of laterite stone road through desert and roadworks. Rode through sand storm with visibility about 50 to 150m
Body (including dick and arsehole ..sorry for rough language) all covered with sand and dust.
Went to a village for sightseeing but ended dropping bike when riding through 12 inches of soft sand
In all .. good experience and fun

23 May 2009

At last some rest, now in Kashgar , ancient city of Xinchang.
Would be spending 2 nights here. Planned bits of tours and a visit to ice capped mountains tomorrow

Ridden approximately 480km today. Went through villages along country roads, mixed highway and part rough
9 pm here felt like 6pm back home ... still bright and sunny!

UPDATE : 26 May from FM CHIN (now riding in China)

Still Staying In Kashgar City, Get to go up to the snow-capped mountain about 180km away today
Also get to see Lake Kaligar and surrounding mountain views. Great especially on a bike instead of in a tour bus!

Rode through 20 km each way of strong cross wind hence riding at 80-85deg tilt! And our location was about 250 km from Pakistan
Fantastic bends and biker's views-points all the way to Aksu
Had to content with more cross-winds and sandstorms again
Rode all the way (straight road) for about 440km after one refill
and get to lunch at 2pm ... sweet

regards
FM Chin

Update 28 May 2009 (from FM Chin via sms)

Today normal ride with heavy traffic with chinese hoodlums coming from the opposite direction without any care for us. We barely missed each other by a foot!

Yip's GS Adventure broke down and the culprit was later pointed to a loose screw in the timing chain gear.
But damage was done with valves and pistons totally shot
Owner very pissed as his ride was virtually over with barely days into the adventure.

Done with desserts and rode mostly on normal road pavement to town

(note: Chin did not mention which town he arrived )

Update 29 May 2008 from FM Chin riding in China

Today rode 400km with 60km of rough roads under construction .. dang killer navigating over this stretch

The other 'better' 360km part, riding at 3300m altitude over fantastic mountain road. Get to stop for some snow fights with fellow ride mates.. nice change from riding over sand and covered with dust

Update 1 Jun 2009 (from FM Chin via SMS)

Arrived Buer Jin after 450km of riding from Kuitun
Rode through again about 60km of loose gravel because of road constructions. Everyday must hit some bad roads due to roadworks
Went to visit ghost city of xinjang and kena con.. because place is basically a weathered down sanddunes and hills .. with no structural remains .. as opposed to advertised a mystical 'ghost' town

took last of antibiotics today and managed to get rid of throat itch. Still got running nose and cough

Update : 2 Jun 2009 (from FM Chin via sms)

Rode 180km with 100km mountainous road similar to Sg Pulai to Cameron Highlands.. had a few scares (almost shit bricks!!!) when riding to the edge without any road barriers

Good short ride .. arrived Kanas mountain resort for some R&R
Good fresh cool air ... at least for time being no sand and dust

Lots of tourists

Update 3 Jun 2009 (from FM Chin via sms)

Now in Fuyun. Rode though the beautiful mountain pass with bends like Ulu Langat-Titi. Some stretch of road was without road curb barriers
Rode though the last ride 200km though some very strong winds .. a truck passed by at the opposite direction in a flash( in one of those bends without road barriers) leaving a trail of dust storm and some very shrank manhood balls

Ride been very exciting so far .. far more adventures than anticipated
