Ducati’s new 1098 and Desmosedici RR were the stars of World Ducati Week, but this special tucked away at the back of the paddock got nearly as much attention.

Underneath the radical remodelling is a Ducati 999S, which has been fitted with a single-sided swingarm (with a distinctive alloy brace added). Dymag magnesium and carbon wheels lower unsprung weight and a set of aftermarket discs with chrome inner rotors.

The bodywork is the biggest change. The fibreglass race fairing has been modified with new headlight and air intake cut outs, and the aerodynamic ‘wings’ on the side panels are redesigned.

The seat is a one-off to suit the custom exhaust with its wacky snake mouth-like exits.
