Colin Edwards is believed to have been told his stint as Valentino Rossi’s team-mate is over at the end of this season, but still has the chance of a works Yamaha ride with the Tech 3 team for 2008.
For months Edwards’ place has been hotly tipped to go to Spanish 250GP star Jorge Lorenzo, and the American said he was expecting clarification on his future this weekend in Laguna Seca (see page 57).
He said: “I think by Sunday afternoon in Laguna Seca I should 90% know what I’m doing,” adding that he had no idea what plans Yamaha may have formulated for him.
“I have no f**king clue. I could make something up, like I’m going to stay, or I’m going to Tech 3 or go home to get a beer belly. But I have no idea,” said the Texan.
Edwards did hint strongly that he had other options, however.
“What I can say is whatever does happen, I will make the choice. It won’t be a ‘here, take this’ or ‘here, take that’ or ‘we’ll give you this ride’.”
“I’m not going to be told what to do. Wacky as it may seem, it will still be my choice,” he stated. |

Yamaha MotoGP rider announcement
Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd announces that it has concluded a two-year agreement with 250cc World

"Yamaha has been watching Jorge's career with interest for some time and we are delighted that he
will be joining our MotoGP line-up from next season - commented Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of

forward to the commencement of his MotoGP career with Yamaha.
The exact structure of Yamaha’s team and rider organization is still under consideration at the
present time. Further details, including Lorenzo’s team structure, will be announced in due
course. |
